If this is your first time here, or perhaps you’ve been around but notice something different, you should know that Simple & Soul was formerly called Creative Holistic Home.
Here’s the quick run down on that: when I started Creative Holistic Home it’s purpose was to inspire creativity, living intentionally, holistic health, and spirituality. My intentions were good…if not completely over ambitious! Isn’t wasn’t long before I discovered my passion was not all the things I enjoyed in life, but that I really loved, and connected to most with simple and intentional living. Specifically, how we are changed on a soul level when we strip away the layers of our possessions and busyness and find space between our selves and the way we desire to live.
My name is Lisa and I am on a journey to live simply with intention and purpose.
I write this blog to encourage you to discover the unique and absolutely abundant life that is underneath all of your stuff (physical and emotional). I do this because I’m on the same adventure.
For years I was unhappy, obsessed with what others thought of me, wrapped up in comparing myself to everyone, tired of all the things we owned, and lacked motivation to enjoy life at all. But that changed when I discovered there is another way to live. There was always a light shining toward a different purpose but it was covered up by a lot of excess possessions and a functioning depression.
You do not have to live with the same sense of overwhelm and disorganization. You can choose a different way. In fact, the way has always been there, in the silence, in the space, in your soul – SIMPLE.
Your life may look something like this:
- a nagging feeling that there is more to life than the mundane, everyday routines
- feeling suffocated by all the clutter in your home
- lack of time and energy to do what you truly love to do
- full of dreams but unsure if they’re worth pursuing
- desiring to give more of yourself to your loved ones but overwhelmed by obligations
- financial constraints and debts that keep you from living the life you desire
- concerned about what others think of you, to your detriment
- comparing the worst of your life to the best of others
- wondering when God is going to show up in your life with your calling and joy
Sound familiar? I carried these chains around for years and believed that it was just how life was supposed to be. Only a select few actually get to live out their dreams. I’m not special enough to have the life I long for, right?
The greatest lie our culture tells us is that we can be who we want to be. Our culture actually tells us who to be if we aren’t paying attention and living with intention. And I guess, for me, the fun (but still incredibly challenging) part of living with simplicity and soul is discovering who I am meant to be.
Minimalism, simple living, intentional living – they all call us out of the rat race of fitting in, of complacency. We get to say how we live, what we own, what defines us, and who give us our worth. We no longer have to live by anyone else’s definition of contentment. Because lets be honest: our culture is never, ever content.
You can discover what is laying beneath your discontent by simplifying your space, calendar, and soul. You can do more of what you love, and become what you’ve dreamed of being and that, my friends, is really this life should be about. You have a say in your life – start using your voice!
This is the magic of simple living.
Are you ready to give it a try? Are you ready to radically become the truest, most honest, rarest beauty of them all? Are you ready to breathe deeper, laugh harder, see clearer, listen gently, and live fully?
